Pada kesempatan besar ini, PT Kayan LNG Nusantara akan menjadi yang pertama mensuplai LNG. Dalam rapat finalisasi, Group Head Gas & LNG Supply dari PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk., Julianto Saut menyampaikan bahwa kesepakatan Perjanjian Jual Beli PJB ini akan membantu masyarakat dalam transisi dari menggunakan energi minyak bumi ke energi gas bumi. Dalam hasil finalisasi, diputuskan penjadwalan untuk penandatanganan bersama dalam PJB LNG ini akan dilakukan di minggu ke-3 bulan September 2022. Julianto juga memberikan pesan agar semua dikawal dengan baik dan berjalan lancar dalam koordinasi internal. Kapasitas produksi LNG di kilang refinery mini LNG PT Kayan LNG Nusantara saat ini sebesar 22 mm per hari. Selain itu, kilang tersebut juga memproduksi LPG yang diperkirakan 400 – 500 ton per bulan. “PGN siap berkomitmen dan sudah memiliki target untuk kedepannya dengan PT Kayan LNG Nusantara” ujar Julianto Saut pada penutupan sambutannya. Menambahkan sambutan Julianto Saut, Direktur Business Development PT Kayan LNG Nusantara, Muhamad Catur, juga menyampaikan Kayan LNG siap mewujudkan dan mendukung pemasaran LNG di Indonesia. According to the Global Data Oil & Gas Intelligence Centre, LNG imports to ASEAN countries have surged from almost zero in 2010 to million tonnes per annum mtpa in 2011 and 12 mtpa in 2020. The upward trend should continue until at least 2040, driven by two main factors. First, Southeast Asian countries need to diversify their energy sources to generate power. Natural gas is a relatively clean fuel, emitting only half the amount of carbon dioxide compared with coal when used in power plants. It has, therefore, been considered a viable energy resource in the energy transition, allowing emerging economies to reduce carbon intensity whilst keeping power and energy prices affordable. Second, the countries are aware that their domestic natural gas resources are depleting. In the Philippines, regulatory support for LNG infrastructure stems from the declining and unreliable supply of the Malampaya field. Handoko remarked that PHE-Medco will supply 22 MMSCFD of gas, with channeling expected to commence in late December of 2021.
